Konstantinos Tasoulas is the 9th President of the Hellenic Republic.

Konstantinos Tasoulas was elected as the new President of the Hellenic Republic on February 12, 2025, securing 160 votes in the fourth round of voting in Parliament.

During today’s vote, Konstantinos Tasoulas was voted for by the 156 ND MPs, as well as: Antonis Samaras [independent, coming from New Democracy -ND (Nea Dimokratia)], Marios Salmas (independent, coming from ND), Charalambos Katsivardas (independent coming from the “Spartiates” coalition) and Pavlos Sarakis (independent, coming from Hellenic Solution).

In the vote for the election of the President of the Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas received 160 votes, while the other candidates gathered:

  • Tasos Giannitsis: 34 votes
  • Loukas Katselis: 29 votes
  • Kostas Kyriakou: 14 votes

In total, 39 MPs voted “present” and 24 were absent.

His swearing-in ceremony is expected to take place on March 13, marking the end of the term of outgoing President Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

Konstantinos Tasoulas was born in 1959 in Ioannina and is a graduate of the Law School of the University of Athens. He was first elected as a Member of Parliament for Ioannina with New Democracy in 2000 and has been re-elected in all subsequent elections.
