A high-level visit was carried out by the Greek Deputy Minister of Defence, Thanasis Davakis, to Saudi Arabia, accompanied by senior officials from the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence (MoD).

During his stay in Riyadh, Deputy Minister Davakis held talks with his counterpart, the Deputy Minister of Defence for Strategic Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Major General Salman Al-Harbi. Together, they participated in the meeting of the Working Group of the Greece-Saudi Arabia Defence and Security Committee, part of the Supreme Council for Military Cooperation between the two nations.

The discussions primarily focused on enhancing and accelerating bilateral collaboration in the areas of Defence and Security, with an emphasis on deepening the long-term strategic military partnership between Greece and Saudi Arabia.

As part of this close strategic cooperation, Greece has deployed a Patriot missile unit to Saudi Arabia, aimed at protecting key infrastructure and installations.

This deployment not only reinforces the strong bilateral defense ties but also provides significant operational benefits for the Hellenic Armed Forces – most notably, real-time experience in a high-threat environment.
