Minister of National Defense visited Surveillance Posts in Oinousses and Evros.
The Minister of Defense Nikos Dendias visited the Panagia Surveillance Post in Oinousses, and Surveillance Post 5 (EF 5) in Evros, sending a message of support to military personnel on the occasion of Orthodox Easter.
The Minister paid visits to two critical Surveillance Posts of the country ahead of the Easter holiday. Today Holy Saturday, April 19, 2025, he visited the Panagia outpost in Oinousses, in the area of the responsibility of the 96th National Guard Higher Command while yesterday Great and Holy Friday, he was at EF 5 in Evros, in the area of responsibility of the XVI Mechanized Infantry Division.
During his visits, Minister Dendias was accompanied by the leadership of the Hellenic Armed Forces, including the Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff, General Dimitrios Choupis, and the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, along with local formation Commanders.
The Minister was briefed on the mission and operational capabilities of the outposts and engaged in conversations with conscripts and Armed Forces personnel, exchanging Easter greetings.

In a statement from EF 5, the Minister emphasized:
“I feel proud of these people – our soldiers, non-commissioned officers, officers, and the personnel of our Armed Forces – who stand guard here during these days, so that Greek men and women can celebrate Easter in safety. I would therefore like to thank them all from the bottom of my heart and assure them of the trust and love that the Greek society holds for them.”

After the Resurrection Service at the Panagia Outpost, Nikos Dendias stated:
“‘Christ is Risen’ here on the island of Panagia, in the Oinousses complex, at the absolute eastern edge of Greece, takes on a different meaning -a different kind of spirituality. I would like to wholeheartedly express my deep gratitude to all the men and women of the Armed Forces, who celebrate the Resurrection with a weapon in hand, precisely so that all other Greeks can celebrate the Resurrection at home, with their families, in love and safety. Christ is Risen! Blessings to you all!”
