Greece Reaffirms Support for Syria’s Stability in Call Between FM Gerapetritis and Patriarch John X
Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis held a phone conversation today, March 9, 2025 with His Beatitude John X, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, to discuss the latest developments in Syria.
During the call, FM Gerapetritis emphasized the urgent need for national unity and peaceful coexistence in Syria. He stressed the importance of protecting all ethnic and religious communities, including Christian populations, and called for an immediate end to all atrocities against civilians.
The Greek Foreign Minister reaffirmed Greece’s commitment to closely monitoring the situation in Syria, advocating for respect for international law, inclusivity, and the avoidance of foreign interference.
Patriarch John X expressed his gratitude for Greece’s solidarity and highlighted the historical ties between Greece and the Antiochian Church.
