This visit of Armenian Chief of General Staff to Greece marks another step in enhancing bilateral military cooperation between the two nations.

Athens, Greece – The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia, Lieutenant General Edvard Asryan, paid an official visit to Greece at the invitation of the Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff, General Dimitrios Choupis (Houpis).

Ceremony and Bilateral Discussions

As part of the official visit, Lieutenant General Asryan participated in a ceremony at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, honoring the fallen.

He was then welcomed by General Houpis at Camp PAPAGOU where they engaged in extensive discussions on defense policy and explored ways to deepen collaboration between the Armed Forces of Greece and Armenia.

The meeting focused on joint military initiatives and the broader strategic relationship between the two countries.

Lieutenant General Edvard Asryan met also with Minister of National Defence, nikos Dendias.

Visit to Evelpidon and Camp KALLINSKI

Lieutenant General Asryan also visited the Hellenic Military Academy (Evelpidon), where he was briefed on its educational programs. Notably, Armenian cadets are among those studying at the academy, underscoring the strong military ties between the two nations.

Following this, he toured the Special Forces Training Center (STFTC) at Camp KALLINSKI in Nea Peramos, Attica, where he observed training exercises and was informed about the center’s operational capabilities.

Deepening Greek-Armenian Defense Cooperation

This visit is part of the ongoing efforts to bolster defense relations between Greece and Armenia, built on shared historical ties and common geopolitical challenges.

The presence of Lieutenant General Asryan in Greece reaffirms the commitment of both countries to furthering their strategic partnership in military and security affairs.
