Suspect wanted for the murder of Chief Constable Lyggeridis arrested at Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport.
Officers of the Security Department of the Airport Police Directorate located and arrested the man, against whom a “long” arrest warrant was pending.
According to the warrant, the above-mentioned man is accused of resistance, criminal organization, disturbing the peace, arson, explosion, possession and manufacture of explosives, intentional homicide, simple and dangerous bodily harm, crimes against the physical integrity of an employee, theft, as well as violation of weapons legislation.
The wanted person had been identified during the police operation codenamed “DAMOCLE SWORD” (DAMOKLEIOS SPATHI) which aimed to dismantle the criminal organization involved in the attack on police officers in Renti, on December 7, 2023, resulting in the death of Chief Constable Georgios Lyggeridis.
