Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Dimitrios Choupis (Houpis), paid an official visit to France, where he met with Chief of the French Armed Forces, General Thierry Burkhard.

The Greek General received an official welcome at the French Armed Forces Headquarters in Paris (April 9, 2025). The bilateral meeting that followed centered on the deepening of strategic defense cooperation between Greece and France, European security and defense priorities, as well as current geopolitical developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East.

Both sides reaffirmed the strong defense partnership between the two nations, emphasizing the importance of joint initiatives and interoperability within the framework of European and NATO security.

During his stay in Paris, General Houpis also met with His Eminence Metropolitan Dimitrios Ploumis of France. They exchanged views on the activities of the Holy Metropolis and the support of the Greek Orthodox community in France.

Additionally, Chief of the HNDGS visited the Greek Embassy, where he was welcomed by the Greek Ambassador to France, Antonios Alexandridis. The meeting focused on Greece-France bilateral relations and key diplomatic and strategic issues of mutual interest.

This visit highlights the dynamic momentum of the Greek-French alliance in defense matters and its role in promoting stability in Europe and beyond.
