Nine Turkish nationals were arrested in Athens & Thessaloniki with weapons, drugs, and fake documents. A joint operation by the National Intelligence Service (EYP) and the Hellenic Police.

In a large-scale police operation by the Hellenic Police (Northern Greece Organized Crime Division), with the assistance of the National Intelligence Service (EYP), nine Turkish nationals were arrested in Athens and Thessaloniki.

The charges against them include violations of weapons, drug, and immigration laws, as well as document forgery and resisting arrest.

Investigation into a Homicide Case in Thessaloniki

The operation was carried out as part of an investigation into a homicide and attempted homicide case that took place on February 25 in the “Macedonia” intercity bus station (KTEL) area in Thessaloniki.

During five house searches in Attica and Thessaloniki, authorities discovered and confiscated weapons, drugs, and fake documents.

What Was Found During the Searches

From body searches, as well as searches of homes and vehicles, authorities confiscated:

  • Two pistols, one with a chambered round and another without a serial number, along with two magazines (each holding 11 bullets)
  • 10.4 grams of unprocessed cannabis.
  • Four small packages of unprocessed cannabis, totaling 19.37 grams.
  • Fake travel documents, including a forged passport and a driver’s license.
  • A metal grinder with cannabis residue.
  • A folding knife measuring 18 cm in total (blade length: 8 cm).

Two Turkish Nationals Attempted to Escape

During the operation, two of the suspects attempted to evade police control and flee. However, law enforcement officers managed to restrain and arrest them.

Investigations are ongoing to determine their involvement in criminal activities and any potential connections they may have within Greece and abroad.
