Alexandroupolis, Greece – A tragic incident occurred on the morning of Saturday, March 1, 2025, at a military camp in Alexandroupolis, where a 46-year-old Staff Sergeant of the Hellenic Army was fatally wounded by his service rifle.

According to an official announcement from the Hellenic Army General Staff (GES), the Staff Sergeant (EPOP) was serving in a military unit within the Alexandroupolis camp at the time of the incident. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.

The Greek Police and military officials are currently examining all possible scenarios, including whether the incident was accidental or if other factors (e.g. suicide) are involved. No further details have been released at this time, pending the ongoing investigation.
